About the seminar

Biodiversity is in decline at the fastest rate in our history. Our financial system depends on biodiversity, yet at the same time it contributes to this decline. Investors and companies have many possibilities to mitigate the risks of biodiversity loss and to have a positive biodiversity impact.

At AXA IM, we believe that investors can play a leading role in protecting nature. Directing investment capital towards the businesses and projects that aim to create solutions will be key in building a more sustainable and resilient future for companies, economies, and the planet.

At our recent seminar, in collaboration with VBDO, Iceberg datalab, ASN Bank, IUCN NL, several Dutch pension funds and more discuss how financial institutions could effectively bend the curve on biodiversity loss.

Our speakers

Hans Stoter

Hans joined AXA IM in June 2018 as Global Head of Fixed Income & (interim) Global Head of Multi Asset Client Solutions and was promoted to Global Head of Core Investments in January 2019.

Hans Stoter started his career at Nomura Bank and Philips Electronics, before joining ING Investment Management in 1998 as portfolio manager Investment Grade Credits. He then held various portfolio manager, team manager and team oversight positions in a broad range of fixed income asset classes. In 2011 he was appointed Deputy Chief Investment Officer, and in 2013 Chief Investment Officer and Board member of ING Investment Management (later re-branded to NN Investment Partners).

Hans holds masters degree in business economics and Financial Analysis, both from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam
 

Stephane Lago

Stephane is Head of Investment Specialists Equity at AXA IM. Covering a global client base with 10 other equity investment specialists, Stephane is specifically in charge of the development of our thematic range and responsible for any new thematic and impact investing business activities.

He joined AXA IM in 2009 as an Investment Specialist focusing on Equities and Multi-Assets.

Stephane holds an MSc in Finance from Queensland University of Technology (Australia).
 

Liudmila Strakodonskaya

Liudmila joined AXA IM in 2021 as an ESG analyst and follows the Green, Social and Sustainability Bond market as well as issues related to Biodiversity.

Liudmila began her career in 2016, working as a sustainable investment analyst for EthiFinance specialis-ing in ESG, climate-related analysis and reporting. She then joined Eleva Capital as an ESG/SRI specialist in 2019 where she developed an ESG strategy for the company and represented them to the UN PRI.

She holds a PhD in Economics, Expertise from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University for which she received a grant from FIR-UN PRI in 2016.

Committed to acting for a sustainable future for people and our planet, we are donating to local charity, Stichting Mano, on behalf of our attendees at the biodiversity seminar in Leiden rather than sharing individual corporate gifts.

Based in Rotterdam, Stichting Mano offers programmes and activities aimed at children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds, refugees, isolated elderly and the less fortunate. The charity has contributed to language development, practical skills, talent development and the transition to education and work. The objective is to support these ‘Rotterdammers’ to participate in society and grow into active citizens by creating the conditions for people to discover, develop and use their qualities and talents. The efforts of fellow citizens who volunteer plays an important role in this, thus contributing to a city of solidarity.
